Dear students, families and friends,
I hope that you have all had a lovely Christmas and a positive start to 2016. In this edition of our school blog I’ve got plenty of news to share with you, so here goes!
We are happy to announce that we have started to provide German lessons here at the school. Our German lessons are available individually or for small groups, and suitable for kids, teenagers and adults. Our German teachers are mother-tongue, and have been carefully chosen by us on the basis of their skills and experience. Contact us at the school for further details.
For the past twelve months the school has been an official Cambridge Examinations Preparation Centre. In this role we work closely with the Centro d’Esami Cambridge della Svizzera Italiana at Manno in order to prepare our students for the prestigious range of Cambridge English language examinations.
Presently at the school we have students preparing for a wide range of Cambridge examinations, including:
-Young Learners (Starters, Movers and Flyers)
-Ket (Key English Test)
-Pet (Preliminary English test)
-Fce (First Certificate in English)
-Advanced (Certificate in Advanced English)
-Proficiency (Certificate of Proficiency in English)
-BEC (Business English Certificates)
Over the coming months we shall be providing our students (kids, teens and adults) with numerous opportunities to practise using authentic Cambridge exam materials and also undertake simulations of the full examinations, in order to be able to advise students and/or their families about the readiness of our students to enter the exams, which will take place in May/June 2016. The deadline for enrollment for these exams will be after Easter 2016, and we will contact everyone before this exam deadline. In the meantime, if you have any questions about Cambridge examinations then contact us at the school for further details.
Study Abroad Programmes
After the great success of our accompanied English Language study trip to Clifton College, Bristol, England last July, we are happy to confirm that we will be returning to Clifton once again this year. The proposed programme for this year includes all of the great elements of last year’s schedule, such as the intensive English courses, fun activities programme and great excursions to London, Bath, Bristol, Oxford and Stonehenge. In addition, this year at Clifton the students will have the possibility to choose special additional pathways, including academic preparation courses, IELTS courses, professional sports coaching programmes and even a film-making course! The dates of the study trip are from 5th July-26th July or from 5th July-2nd August, and the age range for the trip is from 10-17 years. Parents who wish to join their children on the trip are more than welcome, and we can also arrange English courses for them during our stay in the UK.
Brochures for the college are available at the school. Additionally, we will hold an information morning on Saturday 30th January 2016 at 9:30am at the school. All parents and children who are interested in the Clifton College trip are welcome to come along!
In addition to the accompanied trip to Clifton College, we organise English study trips for our students to a wide range of schools and destinations, including:
London, United Kingdom
Bristol, United Kingdom
Bromsgrove, United Kingdom
Oxford, United Kingdom
St. Julians, Malta
University of San Diego, U.S.A.
New for 2016 we are organizing German language study programmes at the Goethe Institute in Munich, Germany from 31st July-20th August 2016.
We have information and brochures about all of these centres available at the school.
As part of our commitment to quality and customer service, we offer student tutorials to young learners (under 18 years of age) who need extra assistance in order to successfully follow their study programme at the school. These tutorials usually last 15 minutes, and provide 1-to-1 tutoring with one of our teachers. If you are a parent who feels that your child needs such tutoring, please don’t hesitate to contact us at the school.
Well, that’s all for this edition of the school blog. I hope that you have found this information useful. Enjoy your English!
